Enterprise Bargaining is to proceed to Mediation between the UFU on behalf of members and the ACT Government as the employer.
On the 8 August 2019, UFUACT had a well-attended general meeting to discuss progress on Enterprise Bargaining. There was some good robust discussion had, and the meeting resolved to approach the Government to engage in 3 days of intensive negotiations with the assistance of a mediator.
The Government has now agreed to three full days and the dates have been set. The mediated negotiations will run from mid-September to early October. The UFU and the Government also secured the assistance of our preferred mediator, an ex-Fair Work Commissioner who has dealt with a number of firefighter agreements and content in his time, Julius Roe.
We will do our best in this endeavour to resolve the remaining big issues – Crewing/Establishment numbers, training, firefighter health and wellbeing.
